The Unbearably Tasteful Ferret
Random inspiration: unbearably tasteful ferret

The story
Reginald had spent three years cultivating the perfect interior. The grey walls were precise, the charcoal sketch was authenticated, and the northern light arrived exactly at ten-thirty. He adjusted his cravat and waited for the guest to arrive. When the doorbell rang, he remained perfectly still, embodying the tasteful stillness of the room. He did not move to answer the door. He simply sat, ensuring the composition remained unbearably tasteful.
The brief
A cream-colored ferret sits perfectly upright in a mahogany armchair, wearing a muted grey waistcoat and a pale blue cravat. The room features pale grey walls, a white marble fireplace, and a single framed charcoal sketch. Soft northern light falls across the scene, highlighting cream, dove grey, and polished wood tones.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
