The Tragically Affordable Fisher
Random inspiration: tragically affordable fisher
AI-generated painting and story
The story
Arthur had priced his catch too low to cover the cost of the boat. He waited in the harbour master's office to sign the waiver that officially made his profession affordable. The fish in his hand did not move. He stared at the certificate on the wall and wondered if the discount applied to the taxes as well. He remained seated, damp and silent, until the clerk returned.
The brief
A fisherman sits on a grey plastic chair in a carpeted office, wearing wet waders and holding a small perch. Fluorescent lights illuminate a beige wall with a framed certificate. The colours are muted beige, grey, and damp olive green.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
