The Reluctantly Digital Guppy
Random inspiration: reluctantly digital guppy

The story
The guppy had once been proudly analog, darting through real water with purpose. Then came the update—a patch, they said, to improve its shimmer. Now it flickers at the edges when no one is looking, a reluctant pixel in a bowl of tap water, waiting for the next reboot while the basil slowly gives up and the tea grows colder.
The brief
A small orange guppy with a faint digital glitch along its flank floats motionless in a chipped glass bowl on a sunlit windowsill, its eyes half-lidded as if resigned, surrounded by wilting basil and a half-empty mug of cold tea.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
