The Recently Retconned Moth
Random inspiration: recently retconned moth

The story
The moth had been rewritten the night before—its species, its migration path, even its preference for left turns—all altered in a quiet editorial footnote no one noticed. Now it sat where it was told to sit, wings folded just so, waiting for the next revision. The hallway didn’t care. The bulb flickered once, then steadied. Somewhere, a editor sipped tea and forgot to save.
The brief
A moth with slightly crooked wings rests on a beige wall in a dimly lit hallway, its antennae twitching faintly as a single bare bulb casts a yellowish glow over faded floral wallpaper and a half-empty mug on a small table nearby.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
