The Overdressed Squid
Random inspiration: overdressed squid
AI-generated painting and story
The story
The squid had been invited to the ambassador’s ball but arrived three hours early, mistaking the invitation for a summons. It adjusted its cufflinks, checked its pocket watch (a gift from a confused oyster), and waited. No one came. The lamp flickered once. The squid did not move. It had come to be seen, and now it was, perfectly dressed and utterly alone.
The brief
A squid in a velvet tuxedo with a monocle and top hat stands rigidly on a marble plinth beneath a single brass lamp in an empty Victorian parlor, its tentacles clasped politely before it, the walls faded rose and the air thick with silence.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
