The Moderately Infinite Whinchat
Random inspiration: moderately infinite whinchat

The story
The whinchat had been told, by a passing hedgehog with a clipboard, that it was moderately infinite — a designation it accepted without question. It did not flap, nor sing, nor seek worms. It simply sat, one wing aloft, contemplating the implications of partial boundlessness. The sun warmed its back. The fence post did not judge. Somewhere, a cloud hesitated.
The brief
A whinchat perches calmly on a wooden fence post in a sunlit meadow, its feathers subtly patterned in muted browns and ochres, one wing slightly raised as if mid-adjustment, with distant hills fading under a pale, even sky.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
