The Deeply Municipal Genet
Random inspiration: deeply municipal genet
AI-generated painting and story
The story
The genet had been promoted to Junior Permissions Officer after three years of exemplary tail posture and punctual stamp licking. It did not understand why humans kept leaving half-eaten sandwiches on its desk, nor why the photocopier occasionally hissed when it passed. Today, it had finally filed Form 7B — ‘Request for Permission to Exist in Corridor C’ — and was waiting for the supervisor’s nod. The stapler, it noted, was warm. It waited. The light flickered. Nothing happened.
The brief
A genet stands stiffly upright on a linoleum floor in a fluorescent-lit municipal office, one paw resting on a half-filed permit form, its tail curled neatly around a stapler, under the dull glow of a single ceiling panel emitting a faint greenish hue.
The painting and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment.
