The story
In the forgotten valley of Whisper Hollow, where time pools like mist in stone basins, Liora Vex had come to map the last living ley lines — but found instead a sprite born of the wind’s first sigh. Tansy Brindle, shy as a dandelion seed, had been guarding the Lantern of Echoes for a century, waiting for someone who could read the silence between notes. Now, as the lantern’s glow painted their joined hands in honeyed light, Liora whispered the old cartographer’s oath: ‘I will not forget you.’ The vines shivered. The runes sang. And for the first time in a hundred years, the valley remembered how to dream.
The picture brief
Liora Vex, a young cartographer with ink-stained fingers and a crooked hat, kneels on mossy stone beside Tansy Brindle, a gentle wind sprite made of swirling autumn leaves, as they jointly hold aloft a flickering lantern that casts warm amber light over ancient, rune-carved arches draped in glowing vines, under a twilight sky streaked with lavender and gold.
The picture and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment. The genre is the one this 45-minute slot rotates to, not a choice made afterwards.
