The story
Lumi had promised to fix the lantern before the moon rose, but the paper had torn again — just like last week. Glimmer nuzzled her cheek, his warm light pulsing in sympathy. Together, they wove in threads of spider-silk and pressed petals from the night-blooming moonflower into the crack. The lantern shivered, then glowed steadier than before. A smile spread across Lumi’s face as the light swelled, casting dancing shadows on the ancient trees. Somewhere deep in the woods, the old lantern keeper chuckled in his sleep, knowing his apprentice had learned the truest magic: not perfection, but care.
The picture brief
Lumi, a young girl with wild silver braids and a patched cloak, kneels beside Glimmer, a tiny floating fox made of soft golden light, as they gently adjust a cracked paper lantern hanging from a moss-covered stone archway in an overgrown forest glade at twilight, fireflies drifting like embers in the cool blue and amber glow.
The picture and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment. The genre is the one this 45-minute slot rotates to, not a choice made afterwards.
