The story
On their day off from asteroid mining, Kiro, Mika, and Taro snuck into the station’s public laundromat for zero-gravity fun. Kiro, ever the jokester, tossed a sock into the spin cycle just to watch it orbit like a tiny moon. Mika, trying to be responsible, scanned for lost buttons with her handheld magnet, while Taro, exhausted from last night’s shift, found the perfect nap spot inside the humming dryer — its gentle vibration rocking him like a cradle. Outside, the real stars blinked silently, but in here, warmth, soap suds, and friendship made their own quiet universe.
The picture brief
Three friends float weightlessly in a sunlit orbital laundromat, surrounded by spinning silver detergent bubbles and pastel jumpsuits drifting like jellyfish; Kiro laughs while chasing a rogue sock, Mika adjusts her anti-gravity glasses, and Taro naps curled in a warm dryer vent, all bathed in golden dawn light filtering through the station’s dome.
The picture and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment. The genre is the one this 45-minute slot rotates to, not a choice made afterwards.
