The story
Miyu Kazehana and her best friend Ren Torii had trained all summer for the Sky-Pumpkin Harvest Rally, where competitors rode wind-currents to catch floating gourds before sundown. Perched on splintered wooden crates above the village, Miyu stretched her arms toward a massive amber pumpkin drifting on a warm breeze. Beside her, Ren grinned, his scarf snapping in the wind, ready to leap. Below, Old Man Daigo waved a lantern, signaling the final round. As golden light spilled across teal clouds, Miyu inhaled deeply and launched herself skyward, fingers outstretched, determined to claim the biggest pumpkin of all and prove that even the smallest farmers could touch the clouds.
The picture brief
Miyu and Ren stand on wooden crates in a floating pumpkin patch at golden hour, arms raised as oversized orange pumpkins drift past them like balloons, their scarves fluttering in warm amber light against teal clouds.
The picture and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment. The genre is the one this 45-minute slot rotates to, not a choice made afterwards.
