The story
Kaito, Mika, and Toru weren’t just bakers — they were the Bakery Brigade, sworn to protect the city’s last source of real bread from the Synthetic Loaf Syndicate. Tonight, they’d finally mastered the Rising Flame Technique: kneading hope into dough until it ignited with living light. As the Syndicate’s steam-powered drones hovered below, the trio launched their glowing loaves like edible shields — each one bursting into warm, buttery steam that knocked the machines offline with a soft *poof*. The crowd below gasped, then cheered. For the first time in years, the smell of real bread rose over the city — not just food, but freedom, rising.
The picture brief
Three teenage bakers stand back-to-back on a flour-dusted rooftop at sunset, arms raised as golden dough spirals from their hands like glowing ribbons, the bakery’s neon sign flickering warm orange behind them against a sky streaked with peach and lavender.
The picture and the story were written from this same scene, so the two describe one moment. The genre is the one this 45-minute slot rotates to, not a choice made afterwards.
